Shacklewell Ward Priority’s: Cyclist failing to stop at the Pedestrian crossing (A10). At the ward panel meeting Concerns were raised by the residents over cyclists failing to stop at the pedestrian crossing on the A10 near Palatine Road. There is an increased risk of danger during school drop off and pick up times. Robbery and Phone snatchers A10 junction with Crossway N16. The local community has expressed concerns regarding the issue of robbery and phone snatches in the local area. We have seen a rise in this crime type along the A10 junction with the Crossway outside bars and restaurants in the area. The issue tends to occur in the evenings and late at night, with victims being often being distracted immediately prior to the snatch. This is a long-term goal, and the safer neighbourhood team will set up several operations to target this. Retails Thefts around Shacklewell Coop store. Theft from retail premises affects all uses of local stores. The local community have particularly noticed this at Coop, Stoke Newington Road.
Priority’s Action: The safer neighbourhood team We will be conducting crossing patrols as part of our shifts around the school hours where we can but also monitoring and tackling the antisocial and dangerous use of bikes and e-bikes across Shacklewell as part of our daily patrols, seizing bikes and issuing tickets where appropriate. The safer neighbourhood team will continue to conduct regular patrols, engaging with shops and residents to safeguard those in the area. Officers are conducting both plain clothes and uniform operations, as well as working with the management of retail premises to reduce acquisitive crime.
